Why Our Beginner Ballet/Tap Class Is the Perfect First Step for Young Dancers

Each season at the Blue Island Park District, we look forward to welcoming a new class of young dancers to our Beginner Ballet/Tap Dance Class—and this fall is no exception.

If your child is between 5 and 7 years old, this class offers a structured and joyful way to build foundational dance skills. Ballet lays the groundwork with rhythm, posture, and grace, while tap adds excitement through energetic footwork and choreography. It’s the perfect combination of discipline and fun.

We’re offering two sessions this fall:

• Session 1: August 21 to September 9
• Session 2: October 9 to November 13
  Classes meet Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Banquet Hall.

Our instructors from Dancing Around Dance Studio do a fantastic job engaging children in a warm, inclusive atmosphere. Students will gain confidence and coordination as they learn new steps and routines.

To ensure a proper and unified experience, all dancers should come dressed in a pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and black tap shoes, with hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail.

The cost is $75 for residents and $80 for non-residents—a great value for professional instruction and weekly growth.

Spots are limited, and this program fills up quickly. If your child has ever dreamed of dancing, this is a wonderful way to begin.
