SUMMARY:Scaletales: Spirrizzi’s Reptile Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Why Scaletales Is One of the Most Exciting Programs We Offer\nEach year when fall rolls around\, one program always seems to generate big excitement at the Blue Island Park District—Scaletales\, presented by our partners at Spirrizzi’s Reptile Rescue. \nThis five-week class offers kids ages 5 to 12 the chance to meet live rescued reptiles and amphibians\, learn about their ecosystems\, and explore how we can help protect them. But what really sets it apart is how interactive it is—children get to observe\, touch\, and even help care for some of the animals under the guidance of trained educators. \nStarting Monday\, October 27\, we’ll host these sessions every week through November 24 at Memorial Park Banquet Hall\, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.. With a cost of just $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents\, Scaletales is both affordable and enriching. \nWhat I love most is the way this program makes science real. When a child holds a turtle or watches a lizard eat\, that moment sticks. It turns curiosity into care—and that’s the kind of lesson we hope lasts a lifetime. \nSpirrizzi’s team brings tremendous knowledge\, safety\, and enthusiasm to every session. They’re wonderful with children and help make this a highlight of our fall season. \nIf your child is fascinated by animals\, give them a chance to go beyond the screen and discover the real thing. We can’t wait to welcome your family to Scaletales! \n—Ted Ruthenberg\nExecutive Director\, Blue Island Park District

SUMMARY:Pre-School Ballet/Tap Class
DESCRIPTION:A Joyful First Step: Pre-School Ballet and Tap Returns This Fall\nThere’s something really special about watching a preschooler discover the joy of movement—and every fall\, I look forward to seeing that happen in our Pre-School Ballet and Tap Class here at the Blue Island Park District. \nIf your child is 3 to 5 years old and loves to move\, jump\, or spin\, this class is the perfect way to introduce them to basic dance skills in a supportive and playful environment. \nStarting Tuesday\, September 17\, we’ll meet each week through November 5\, from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m.\, at the Memorial Park Banquet Hall. Our instructors know just how to blend rhythm\, movement\, and music into an experience that builds confidence and coordination for young children. \nThis isn’t about performance or perfection—it’s about self-expression\, body awareness\, and joy. Parents can stay and observe as their little ones learn to follow direction\, try new things\, and make new friends. \nWe recommend wearing comfy clothes\, and while ballet slippers or tap shoes are great\, they’re not required to get started. \nI’ve seen firsthand how this class gives kids a positive first taste of structured activity—and how it brings smiles to parents and grandparents too. \nTo reserve your spot\, visit blueislandparks.org or call us at 708-385-3304. Spaces go fast! \nWe can’t wait to welcome your tiny dancer to the studio floor. \n—Ted Ruthenberg\nExecutive Director\, Blue Island Park District
