THE KANSAS CITY BARBEQUE SOCIETY (KCBS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque, is the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 20,000 members worldwide.
KCBS sanctions over 500 barbeque contests worldwide. From volunteering to actual event production, our members also offer assistance to civic and charitable organizations who organize events.

BBQ on the Hill is celebrating 6 years of BBQ goodness!
South Chicagoland’s favorite Cook-off and festival returns for another year of entertainment and mouth-watering goodness. Fest-goers can enjoy 3 days of music, live entertainment, hot delicious food, a beer garden serving locally brewed beer and domestic favorites, and activities for the whole family.
This and so much more available with no admission fee. It’s no wonder that BBQ on the Hill remains one of the city’s best summer attractions.

Enjoy a fireworks show presented by the Blue Island Park District in honor of the 5th annual BBQ on the Hill Festival. Spectators may enjoy the fireworks display from hill-side lawn seating, stadium bleachers, or from anywhere within the festival grounds.
A Culinary Competition for Children
Are you Blue Island’s Top Dog?
Now you can prove it by taking part in the BBQ on the Hill “Top Dog” Kids Competition on Friday, September 20th. Children ages 6-12 are invited to join in on the cooking competition fun, where each contestant will use provided toppings and hot dogs to create the best doggone hot dog our judges have ever tasted!
But to win, you gotta play.
Each participant will be given 3 pre-cooked hot dogs and their choice of up to 6 ingredients from a “Smörgåsbord” of ingredients. After ingredients are selected, contestants will be given a limited time to create their version of the “best hot dog in town”. Each hotdog will be judged based on Creativity, Presentation, and Taste by a panel of judges. Gift cards will be awarded to the contestants with the highest scores.

In addition to the wide selection of food vendors, BBQ on the Hill will host a Public Rib Tasting featuring ribs prepared by contestants of the 6th annual BBQ on the Hill Cook-Off.
During the Rib Tasting Hour (or Public Sampling), Cook-off contestants will provide rib samples to the public in exchange for Rib Tokens. Each Rib Token can be redeemed one (1) rib bone at any of the participating BBQ on the Hill Cook-off competitors. You may sample from as many competitors as you have tokens. After sampling, you may cast your vote(s) for the whom in your opinion served up the Best Tasting Ribs. award. The competitor with the most votes will win the 2018 “People Choice” award.
Special attention should be taken by anyone wishing to participate.
