Security Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in custodial care, supervision of Park District buildings and grounds, and provides information to the public on a broad range of programs, services, issues, and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Works under the close supervision of the Supervisor of Security.
  • Ensures the safety of park visitors.
  • Offers first aid (if certified) and handles emergencies alongside police, fire departments, and other first responders.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation.

Maintenance Worker

Under the direction, supervision, and approval of Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Worker shall be responsible to perform a variety of semi-skilled and technical tasks in the maintenance and operation of buildings, grounds, open spaces, parks, and recreation systems and to assist in the administration of standard operating policies and procedures of the park district.

Camp Counselor

Under the direction of the Summer Camp Director and Assistant Summer Camp Director, a Camp Counselor helps implement the summer camp program through individual and small group activities for children ages 4-12 (Preschool through 6th grade).

  • Supervises camp participants from time of arrival on site until the end of each day’s program unless otherwise indicated in writing by the child’s parent or guardian.

Office Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION 

To The purpose of this position is to serve as the receptionist at Blue Island Park District, to provide a variety of routine clerical and secretarial duties as well as administrative support when necessary.  Assist in the administration of standard operating policies and procedures of the park district.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Open/close office as scheduled
  • Check messages and after hours mailbox, maintain flyers in Field House lobby
  • Answer telephone in a professional manner, take messages or transfer calls to appropriate extension
  • Answer questions and assist the public with registering in programs, special events and rental contracts
  • Sort incoming mail, file paperwork and other duties as needed
  • Participate in all Park District Special events
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Districts safety program.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bilingual preferred
  • A valid Illinois State Drivers Licenses or Identification is required

Preferred Skills

  • Presents a professional office persona both with the public and on the phone
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs
  • Possess strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Strong cash handling skills
  • Good organizational skills

Additional Notes

  • Hours: 8:00am – 6:00pm (may require some nights and weekends)

Volunteer Opportunities

Earn volunteer hours while having fun! The Blue Island Park District accepts applications for volunteer hours for many events throughout the year. Individuals or clubs looking to volunteer may contact our Recreation Coordinator at 708-388-6421 or by email us at info@blueislandparks.org.

 

Volunteer hours are available on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteers over the age of 18 will are subject to a background check.
All volunteers must submit a Volunteer Waiver Form before the first day of service.
