The Blue Island Park District is seeking applicants for the position of Recreation Intern for the Recreation Department for students pursuing a degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field. All necessary university or college requirements must be met to be eligible.
The Blue Island Park District will be willing to accommodate your school’s requirements for an internship if applicable.
Under the supervision of the Marketing Coordinator, the Marketing Intern will receive experience in photography and writing designed to engage a diverse community.
Interns with a focus in photography are expected to attend Blue Island Park District events and programs, photograph, edit pictures, and create engaging visuals.
Interns with a focus in writing are expected to complete short writing tasks such as social media captions, program and event descriptions, and press releases. Interns will receive feedback from the Marketing Coordinator with the goal of developing grammar, situational tone, and eventually taking on longer projects such as articles and editing proposals.
Under the direction of the Recreation Director, the Athletic Coordinator will have the opportunity to work with many different programs all year around.
Programs include but are not limited to Youth Athletics, Adult Athletics, Field Maintenance, Refereeing, and many coaching opportunities in different seasonal sports. The Blue Island Park District is seeking individuals who have a passion for sports and sharing that with their community.
A Concession Stand Manager is responsible for operating and handling the activities at a designated concession stand while preserving the safety and the well-being of all staff and the general public.
A Concession Stand Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Concession Stand Manager in operating and handling the business while preserving the safety and the well-being of all staff and the general public.
A Concession Stand Attendant is responsible for operating and handling the activities at a designated concession stand while preserving the safety and the well-being the general public.
The ideal candidate will perform general preventative maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
The lifeguard’s primary role is to observe the safety and the well-being of all staff and the general public.
The Park Security Guard is responsible for supervising the enforcement of rules, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to public use of Park District grounds and facilities.
This position conducts routine patrol of parks and facilities, educating the public on the proper use of district resources and interdepartmental service requests.

Volunteers over the age of 18 will are subject to a background check.
All volunteers must submit a Volunteer Waiver Form before the first day of service.
