Maintenance Worker

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Under the direction, supervision, and approval of Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Worker shall be responsible to perform a variety of semi-skilled and technical tasks in the maintenance and operation of buildings, grounds, open spaces, parks, and recreation systems and to assist in the administration of standard operating policies and procedures of the park district.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintains a clean environment for all park and facility locations.
  • Perform minor fixes and as repairing where needed.
  • Install and troubleshoots appliances and equipment.
  • Report to facilities or maintenance manager for issues

Requirements

Experience using hand and electrical tools
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
Physical stamina and dexterity
High school diploma or equivalent
Must provide a valid Drivers License

Marketing Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Under the direction of the Marketing Director, the Marketing Assistant will perform daily tasks associated with the Blue Island Park District’s marketing needs. 

.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other related fields from an accredited college or university. • Minimum of two years of successful full-time experience in public relations or marketing, preferably in a Parks and Recreation environment.
  • The knowledge of a wide range of marketing techniques and concepts.
  • Sound communication skills and ability to present ideas in a concise verbal and visual manner.
  • Clear and concise writing skills with a thorough knowledge of English language usage. • The ability to carry out instructions effectively and efficiently and organize workload to meet production deadlines in a timely and punctual manner.
  • The ability to work independently, solve problems cooperatively, and convey a positive attitude to others. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and other related software.
  • Experience updating/maintaining websites using a content management system.
  • Experience developing, scheduling, and posting content to organizational social media platforms.
  • Experience developing and designing content for email marketing.
  • The ability to be flexible in all aspects of job responsibility.

Office Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION 

To The purpose of this position is to serve as the receptionist at Blue Island Park District, to provide a variety of routine clerical and secretarial duties as well as administrative support when necessary.  Assist in the administration of standard operating policies and procedures of the park district.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Open/close office as scheduled
  • Check messages and after hours mailbox, maintain flyers in Field House lobby
  • Answer telephone in a professional manner, take messages or transfer calls to appropriate extension
  • Answer questions and assist the public with registering in programs, special events and rental contracts
  • Sort incoming mail, file paperwork and other duties as needed
  • Participate in all Park District Special events
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Districts safety program.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bilingual preferred
  • A valid Illinois State Drivers Licenses or Identification is required

Preferred Skills

  • Presents a professional office persona both with the public and on the phone
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs
  • Possess strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Strong cash handling skills
  • Good organizational skills

Additional Notes

  • Hours: 8:00am – 6:00pm (may require some nights and weekends)

Volunteer Opportunities

Earn volunteer hours while having fun! The Blue Island Park District accepts applications for volunteer hours for many events throughout the year. Individuals or clubs looking to volunteer may contact our Recreation Coordinator at 708-388-6421 or by email us at info@blueislandparks.org.

 

Volunteer hours are available on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteers over the age of 18 will are subject to a background check.
All volunteers must submit a Volunteer Waiver Form before the first day of service.
