Monday, June 20th, 2011

WE DID IT!!

Over 300 volunteers came out to be part of this great event. not even the heat could stop Blue Island from building this beautiful park. We would like to thank everyone who made it out on build day to help erect this beatiful park. A special “thank You” to all those organizations, businesses, and individuals who donated and helped make this day possible. If you missed out on all the fun, make sure to visit Kiddie Korral soon and enjoy all its new additions….or…..make sure to save the date for our next build. Did someone say “Portland Park”? Wink Wink. :)

KIDDIE KORRAL RENOVATION

If you haven’t heard by now, here it is.

Good news everyone! If you live in Blue Island, you probably know all about Kiddie Corral. Located just off of 121st and Highland, Kiddie Corral is one of the many parks frequented by the youth of Blue Island. Although Kiddie Corral is amongst the most used and adored parks in Blue Island, it sure is in a need of a makeover.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and the hard work from all our committee volunteers, park friends and neighbors, the Blue Island Park District was awarded a KaBoom Grant. The KaBoom Grant will help replace the existing playground and replace it with a brand new “dream” playground and soccer field.

Want to be part of history and some photo opportunities as well? Sign up to become a volunteer for the Kiddie Corral Build day.

“What is Build Day?” you ask. Build Day July 30th, is the designated day in which the community of Blue Island comes together to help construct the Dream Playground granted to us by KaBoom. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, no matter your age. There will be jobs and activities for everyone in the family. Food, fun, and great memories will be provided for all volunteers.

Kiddie Corral Build Day – July 30th – 9am – 2:30pm (Rain or Shine)
Kiddie Corral Dedication – July 30th – 2:30 – 3:00pm

EXTREME PARK MAKEOVER!!

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

MOVE THAT OLD PARK!!! and make room for a new dream park!

Congratulations to the residents of Blue Island as for the Blue Island Park District was awarded the coveted KaBoom Grant.

What does this mean for me? The KaBoom grant awarded to the Blue Island Park District is specified to replace the existing playground equipment from our Kiddie Corral Park and replace it with a brand new “Dream park”.

What do you mean by “Dream Park”? The KaBoom Grant is designed to replace existing equipment with a playground designed by the people that will be using it. A design committee is formed to combine multiple ideas into a park that will encompass our communities wishes.

How do i get my ideas for this park to the design team? Easy, join us tonight (June 2nd) at Veteran’s Memorial School at 3pm. there you will be able to join the Design Team. Both Parents and children are needed for the design team.

Any other questions can be answered by calling 708-388-6421
