POOL MANAGER (2010 Pool Season)
DEPARTMENT: Recreation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A. Senior in High School or above with at least two years experience in pool work.
- B. Must be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, Head Guard courses, Waterpark certification, and WSI with working experience.
- C. Experience in swimming pool operation and mechanical functions of the pools.
- D. Cursory understanding of pool programming and pool staff responsibilities.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Recreation & Special Events
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A. Responsible for taking pool readings and inspection of the pump room.
- B. Inspection of locker rooms for cleanliness and pool deck including surrounding areas.
- C. Conduct weekly Lifeguard meetings.
- D. Make sure all staff are on duty and performing their job duties.
- E. Evaluate staff at season’s end and also attend all staff in-service meetings.
- F. Assist Recreation in the execution of special events, aquatic programs and classes.
- G. Assists Chief of Staff in keeping all reports and records as requested including time sheets.
- H. Should be able to perform mechanical duties in an emergency.
- I. Enforces in a courteous manner the rules and regulations of the pool.
- J. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Department.
HOURS:
The Pool Manager will have varying pool hours. Recreation will assign general hours of duty.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Work place is likely to be noisy, active and even a disruptive environment. Potential contact with chemicals inherent to the operation of aquatic facilities.

May be exposed to negative weather conditions as part of the outdoor pool operation.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
Must demonstrate good judgement and logical thought process in the execution of the essential functions of this position. Must react to stressful situations with an appropriate response.
ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER (2010 Pool Season)
DEPARTMENT: Recreation
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Senior in High School or above with at least two years experience in pool work.
B. Must be certified in Lifeguarding, WSI, CPR, First Aid, Head Guard courses and Waterpark certification.
C. Should have a basic knowledge of pool mechanics and chemicals.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Pool Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Opens and closes pool on scheduled work days if Pool Manager is not on duty.
B. Performs pool water chemical testing.
C. Performs pool vacuuming on a daily or as need basis.
D. Fills out daily maintenance reports.
E. Guards the swims or fills in for Pool Manager if required.
F. Participates in the teaching of swim lessons, or other activities as needed.
G. Oversees and assists staff with nightly facility maintenance.
H. Reports maintenance and custodial supplies as needed.
I. Reports general information to Pool Manager on a weekly basis.
J. Inspects all First Aid equipment and orders necessary refills and distributes new supplies.
K. Inspects all pool equipment and reports items in need of repair or replacement.
L. Attends all special events, staff meetings, etc.
M. Conducts daily safety inspections.
N. Replaces all forms necessary for pool maintenance, payroll, lessons, etc.

LIFEGUARD (2010 Pool Season)
DEPARTMENT: Recreation
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Must be16 years or age or older.
B. Must be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, AED and Waterpark courses.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Team Leader / Pool Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Responsible for safety and well- being of patrons in attendance of the pool.
B. Wear required uniform and maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance. No body jewelry, pajama pants, or miscellaneous t-shirts will be allowed while on duty.
C. Uphold the rules and policies for the pool and park district.
D. Maintain an attentive outlook in the pool and on the deck at all times while on duty. Scan zones.
E. Do not talk at length with patrons, friends, etc. or other employees while on duty.
F. Participate in the teaching of swim lessons, or other activities, i.e. birthday parties, as needed.
G. No smoking, eating, or drinking while on duty or on the pool deck. All lunches, etc. must be eaten in the office while on break.
H. NO CELL PHONES while on duty. They must be turned off or on silent and in your locker.
I. Responsible for making sure your shift is covered at all times. Remember YOU are responsible for finding a sub as needed.
J. Assist with daily cleaning of the pool and locker rooms as needed or as assigned.
K. Successfully pass all items on the PDRMA lifeguard training checklist annually.
L. Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
M. Pass vision test or wear corrective eyewear.
N. Perform any other duties assigned by the Pool Manager or Recreation Department.
